120 Best Dreams and Goals Examples to Set and Achieve

A few years ago, I was stuck in a seriously deep rut. My life was feeling like one big, long, never-ending monotonous day. I went to work, I came home and watched TV, went to bed, and did it all over again the next day. My life lacked purpose, and I felt like my actions had no meaning.

If you haven’t thought much about your own dreams and goals, the chances are this might sound a lot like your own life. There is some comfort in a predictable routine, but it can become dull when your life seems to lack any real meaning or purpose.

For me, it took some serious motivation from my wife (who has always been a goals driven person) to pull me out of my slump. She helped me realize that I would be much happier and more fulfilled if I started thinking about the big dreams and goals that I wanted to work toward throughout my life. The problem is that I didn’t really have dreams or any sort of clear vision of the big things I wanted to accomplish in my life.

What Are Personal Life Goals and How Do You Reach Them?

Your personal life goals are the things you want to accomplish in the time you have on this planet. Your list of life goals will be unique to you since it is your life to live! Some people dream of having their own business and working toward a big financial goal, while others may be more interested in focusing on their personal development. 

In my life coaching experience, I always remind goal chasers that, regardless of what your important life goals and dreams are, the first step is to make sure that they are SMART goals. SMART goals are specific, measurable, attainable goals that are relevant to your sense of purpose in your life. Establishing a specific time frame will also help you stay motivated to keep working toward your goals.

Now, just because a goal is SMART doesn’t mean it can’t be ambitious (or even a tad bit ridiculous!). At Joyful Through It All, we like to set goals that are ridiculously ambitious (see example #50 on the list below!). Important life goals should stretch you outside of your comfort zone. They should be possible, but inspiring enough that you want to pursue them.

Whether you are setting short-term goals or long-term goals, you should be able to set and follow an action plan to achieve them. Because a goal without a plan is just a wish!
